Editorial policy

This page explains how we decide what to publish, where facts come from, how artificial intelligence is used, and how we correct mistakes. It applies to every page on macroeconomicslive.com.

Who is responsible

Tian Kriek is the editor and is responsible for what is published. The site is published by Kriek Institutional Research, the company that makes KriekTrade; see the advertising disclosure.

Sources

  • Primary sources first. Numbers come from the agency that publishes them: the US Treasury (yields), the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (policy rate, FOMC calendar, effective rate) and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (inflation and jobs). We cite the source and the date we accessed it.
  • Public-domain or open data only. We do not copy tables, charts or text from commercial data vendors, charting platforms, economic-calendar websites, news organisations or broker sites. We do not publish market prices or forecasts and consensus estimates from other providers.
  • Our own work. Charts and diagrams are drawn by us. Indicators labelled “KriekTrade” (the risk gauge, the Fed stance setting and the cycle phase) are our own judgement and calculation, and are labelled as such.
  • Quotes and news. We link to news and describe it in our own words. We quote public statements from central banks and government agencies only as far as needed, with a citation.
  • No affiliation. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Federal Reserve, the Treasury, the BLS or any other agency we cite, and we do not use their logos.

How we use AI

  • We use AI tools to help with drafting, structuring, checking and formatting. They do not replace editorial judgement.
  • Every guide is reviewed, fact-checked against its cited sources and approved by a named human, Tian Kriek, before it is published or materially changed.
  • The commentary on the daily macro page is not free-form AI text. It is produced by a fixed template that fills in numbers from the official data shown on the same page, with neutral wording that we reviewed in advance. The individual daily outputs are generated automatically and are not read line by line, which is why they contain only figures and plain descriptions. It is labelled “Commentary by KriekTrade — educational only”.
  • We do not publish AI-generated images of real people or invent quotes, data or sources.

What we do not do

  • We do not give personal investment advice, signals to individuals or buy and sell calls on this site, and we do not answer “should I buy X?” messages.
  • We do not publish performance claims, win rates or backtest results.
  • We do not publish information about anyone’s private accounts or finances.

Dates and updates

Every guide shows when it was published and when it was last updated. The daily page shows its own refresh time and the date of each data point. When a data source cannot be refreshed, the page says “not available today” instead of showing old numbers.

Corrections

If you spot an error, tell us through the contact form and say which page it is on. We will check it against the source, correct the page promptly and add a short note with the date of the correction at the foot of the page when the change is material. We do not quietly rewrite what we got wrong.

Commercial relationships

Kriek Institutional Research sells KriekTrade. Articles may link to KriekTrade where it is relevant, and those links carry tracking parameters so we can see which pages are useful. Promotions are labelled. No third party pays for editorial content.
